Why Manitoba Immigration Moved To the Top of the Wish List

Let’s face it… When most people begin thinking of moving to Canada, Manitoba immigration isn’t the first thing that pops up in their minds. You’d think that the most sought-after cities would be Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver.

But, here’s where it gets interesting. At the moment, there’s another city rising like a Phoenix from the ashes:

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA

That’s right, Manitoba immigration authorities announced last November, a complete overhaul of their Provincial Nominee program.

Starting February 2018 the following programs will be available:

  • Manitoba Express Entry Program
  • Manitoba Business Immigration Program
  • Manitoba Skilled Workers Program
  • Manitoba Worker Overseas Program
  • Manitoba International Education Program

There Are NEW Canada Immigration Programs?! Thanks @ItsCanadaTime for the info!
Click To Tweet

Within the first two months of the announcement of these programs, the Manitoba government issued over 1,200 letters that requested selected applicants to apply for the Canadian Province.

What Are The Current Immigration Statistics In Manitoba?

The immigrant population in Manitoba has grown by a margin of 5.2%.

4.3% of all recent Canadian immigrants now live in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

52,000 immigrants settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba within the last 5 years! And that number is growing by the day.

Is Manitoba Immigration Easier?

Our experts are saying YES. The Province has even received permission from the Canadian government to redefine the “strong connection” definition to include distant relatives or a close friend (before this change, the points were only awarded if a brother or sister resided).

How many points are awarded for having a strong connection with the Manitoba Province you ask? 15!

Tell your friends 🙂 They’ll earn more points for Express Entry to Canada if they immigrate to Manitoba!
Click To Tweet

Also, in an effort to attract more immigrants, Manitoba will be releasing what they call an “In-demand Occupation List.”

The Manitoba government will regularly update a list of in-demand occupations. Those who happen to be in the chosen occupations will be looking at a prioritized expression of interest draw for a Permanent Residence Visa.

University Students Could be The Biggest Winners

All Manitoba Programs were created to offer more flexible pathways to the region; however, the most drastic effect the programs will have on the Province will directly benefit University Students.

For instance, if you graduate from a Manitoba University, you will no longer be required to have a job offer in order to receive permanent residence.

Now, let’s flip that around…

Are you an international student looking to immigrate to Manitoba, but you have no job offer? There is now an immigration stream for you through Manitoba’s Career Employment Pathway (CEP).

Graduate Students

Any graduate student on a work Visa in Manitoba may apply for a Permanent Residence Visa after 6 months of working in the province.

    Hi Aries,

Did you see the section in the article that mentioned the points you will receive for having a “strong connection” to the province? IF you have a close friend living in Manitoba, you are eligible for 15 points on your Express Entry application.

Can I apply for residency without going to university? By assessing all my documents. If you mind,I have finished a 4 year course in the Philippines though it had nothing to do with my current job.I got certificate in horticulture Level II and animal husbandry. Thanks and hoping that my questions will be answered.

Ora mi sa che è difficile, sono un imbianchino ma ho 51 anni e figli a carico. Vengo a voi per chiedere, si può? Ci sono ditte italiane e non che cercano?

I am financially secure, and have a brother living in Canada who immigrated from the UK 20 years previous. This year I will probably take a trip to Canada to have a closer look.
