Alberta’s two main hubs are the beautiful cosmopolitan city of Calgary and the capital city Edmonton.
Calgary, nicknamed “Cowtown,” is Alberta’s largest city. Calgary’s economy mostly consists of energy, financial services, film and television, transportation and logistics, technology, manufacturing, aerospace, health and wellness, retail, and tourism.
Edmonton, sitting on the North Saskatchewan River, is nicknamed the “Festival City,” for celebrations being held year-round. Edmonton is also home to North America’s largest mall, West Edmonton Mall.
Alberta’s current population is around 4,280,127 with 80% of the population being native English speakers.
